The purpose of  the Healthcare Trends Institute’s Editorial Advisory Board is to ensure that the Institute’s content and programs are relevant, current, insightful and accurate. The Editorial Advisory Board comprises subject-matter experts that represent different aspects and perspectives of healthcare, including insurance (carriers), government/legislative, vertical channel partners, technology and other related areas. The Board meets periodically to review and develop programs and plans, and otherwise support the Institute.

Sander is a Principal and Senior Consultant housed in the Mercer Health & Benefits Services (Mercer) Irvine, California office working to “fix healthcare.” He leads Mercer’s Health Innovation Council that develops and implements non-traditional solutions that reshape the marketplace. He also heads up Health Consumerism and Health Engagement efforts for Mercer’s Total Health Management group. His work revolves around emerging benefits and ways to encourage groups to become involved and informed around health care cost and quality. Sander is also a frequent presenter at health care and benefits-related events and has published articles in Benefits Quarterly, Employee Benefit News, HR Magazine, Workforce and HR Executive.

Sam Robinson is the National Director, U.S. Health Plan Industry with Microsoft Health and Life Sciences.  In this role, Sam is responsible for Microsoft’s strategy, execution and public presence for health plan organizations that leverage current and future Microsoft based technology to solve real-world issues across their enterprise. He has over 20 years in information technology and over 15 years in Healthcare Information Technology experience. Prior to joining Microsoft Sam served as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for Eclipsys Corporation, a healthcare software solutions company.

Roy Ramthun, Founder, HSA Consulting Services

Roy, popularly known as “Mr. HSA”, is founder of HSA Consulting Services, a healthcare consulting practice specializing in Health Savings Accounts and consumer-driven healthcare issues. Prior to forming his consulting practice, Roy was the Special Assistant to the President for Economic Policy at the White House. As a member of the National Economic Council staff, he was the senior health policy advisor to President George W. Bush. Roy has over 25 years of experience in health policy, government relations, and private sector operations. He is now the director of the Policy Center at West Health.

As President and Chief Operating Officer, Chris oversees the daily execution of WEX Health’s business and leads the company’s business development, M&A, and industry and government relations efforts. Chris has over 25 years of experience in employee benefits and banking. As a founder of Evolution Benefits in 2000, he played a key role in designing the proprietary architecture for EB’s prepaid benefits card. Previously, Chris focused on finance, strategy, and business development for Value Health and two startup health care companies. He began his career in commercial banking. A frequent speaker on emerging trends in financial services and benefits, Chris is active in industry and government relations.

Kevin Robertson, SVP, Director of Sales, HSA Bank

Kevin Robertson has 20 years of experience in the insurance, financial services and banking industries spanning a diverse spectrum of employee benefits and insurance products and services. As the Senior Vice President and Director of Sales at HSA Bank, Kevin is responsible for leading the sales team and driving revenue. Kevin previously served as Senior Vice President, Director of Operations at UMB Healthcare Services. In addition to his years of leadership as a banking executive, Kevin was also a self-employed business owner for 12 years, managing a large insurance operation with more than 25 separate agency locations, and was a FINRA Registered Representative and Principal for eight years.

Kevin has served as president of a number of industry and private organizations on a local and national level, and is a board member and Chairman of the Compliance Committee of the American Bankers Association HSA Council. He earned his Bachelor’s degree from Marquette University.

As a product manager, Craig is responsible for establishing and managing revenue growth through new product development initiatives, product positioning, and distribution strategy.
